AM Session (8.00am - 1.30pm)

Empress Place & Esplanade Park

Discover how the Civic District Enhancement Works reimagined one of Singapore’s most historic urban cores into a cohesive, green cultural precinct. This learning journey showcases how a multidisciplinary team revitalised Empress Place and Esplanade Park by reconnecting fragmented open spaces into a unified urban park. Key highlights include the pioneering transplant of eight massive Rain Trees using a minimally invasive pipe-jacking method, relocation of Angsana trees as a nod to Singapore’s social history, and the conservation of over 135-year-old heritage trees along Connaught Drive. Participants will learn about the bespoke engineering and arboricultural solutions employed to preserve and protect these iconic trees throughout the transformation.

Heritage Trees at Changi

Explore Changi, one of Singapore’s two gazetted Tree Conservation Areas, on a trail that highlights eight remarkable Heritage Trees protected for their age, size, rarity, and cultural value. Nestled within rich greenery, these trees include unique specimens like the elusive Shorea gibbosa, the towering Sindora wallichii, and the wind-shaped Syzygium syzygioides. Participants will not only discover their botanical significance but also gain insights into mature tree preservation techniques such as elevated boardwalks, lightning protection systems.

PM Session (1.30pm - 6.00pm)

Mandai Bird Paradise

Gain exclusive insights into the arboricultural strategies behind Mandai Bird Paradise, Southeast Asia’s largest bird park, set within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This learning journey explores how trees are preserved, transplanted, and integrated into both natural and built habitats to support over 3,500 birds across 400 species. Participants will discover planning and operational practices including species selection for biodiversity, tree management within aviary structures, and maintenance regimes designed to ensure structural stability, safety, and ecological harmony.

Surbana Jurong Campus

Explore how Surbana Jurong Campus—a flagship development in the Jurong Innovation District—brings Singapore’s garden city vision to life through innovative integration of trees and infrastructure. Designed by Moshe Safdie, this award-winning greenfield project blends architecture and landscape while supporting over 4,000 employees. Participants will gain insights into tree preservation during construction, species selection for design and sustainability, and the challenges of skyrise planting, including installation and ongoing maintenance at height. The session features perspectives from both the implementors and current premises managers.
